Money Matters
Tipping, though not expected, is generally accepted. We do recommend a tip of
at least 10% if you have enjoyed the tour, meal or service.
The Trinidad and Tobago Dollar (Better known as the “Tee Tee” Dollar) is the
generally accepted form of currency here. Though everyone involved in tourism
will accept US Dollars. British Pounds are less accepted, but useable.
Everyone will accept cash, the vast majority will accept Travellers Cheques,
all hotels and restaurants will accept major credit cards, however smaller
establishments may not accept credit cards. At the moment Paria Springs cannot
accept credit cards, we will do so when the lodge is open. If you wish to use
credit cards all banks accept major credit cards such as American Express, VISA
and Master Card at Automatic Teller Machines, which can be found throughout both
islands, from which you can get TT Dollar cash and from some US Dollar cash. Just
remember your PIN.
One US Dollar equals 6 Trinidad and Tobago Dollars.
